Just searching for the good stuff .
That’s what I’m guessing all my birder friends are thinking. To have a private audience with, not one but three, green heron on a random stop is unthinkable.
I bargained for a quick stop at what are known as Bezos or Blue Origin Ponds after our trip for fresh veggies, peaches and raspberries today. I knew the green herons had been spotted there, but I had no idea I’d see a trio up in the trees! Dumb luck. Or perhaps serendipity. I haven’t been out with my camera for a week and I figured it was worth a try. I hit the trifecta!
I also took over 300 shots. Here is a sampling because I just couldn’t choose! Enjoy!
Love that first shot, Bonnie! They look like they just had an argument.
Stupendous!! They heard you were coming no doubt, and waited for you. I could have looked at another 284! Each one is a delight.
Haha … I’ve been staring at them all night. I don’t know why I love these so much, but they are the coolest birds. There was a young one today, much less skittish than the others. Lucky me!
They’re fairly uncommon and scaredy birds, so that increases the allure. And those faces! What’s not to love?
Haha … you totally get it*
Fantastic! The Universe knows what you need and is looking out for you.
What a great thought! And I think you’re absolutely right. Pretty awesome 20 minutes! Thank you, Universe.
“Fortune favors the Bold!” And what a jackpot you hit, Lady!!! Beautiful work, as always…*
Thanks, Mare. These are one of my favorite birds for so many reasons. I think I love them a little more because they can be so hard to capture. Fortune favors the bold … I love that!
Wow, Bonnie Rae! Three in a tree! What a great encounter.

Really wonderful! I’ve been to this location before and they have been quite evasive. Today was amazing.
