Red-winged blackbird, Common yellow-throat, Virginia rail, marsh wren, purple martin and a pair of flickers getting frisky! Flaming Geyser Park on a lovely day for a walk 💚
How on earth did you get a picture of a Virginia Rail?!?!? They are so secretive. Been sitting on how to comment on a previous blog speaking to your partner’s diagnosis with breast cancer. Blessings and love to both of you on this unexpected and unwelcome event. Good outcome and quick healing, Ann
Oh yes, those Virgina rail are tough to capture, but this was a momma looking for her baby and she was very vocal! Thanks so much for the kind words. Definitely unexpected, but we remain very optimistic. The waiting has been the hardest part. We are lucky to have each other and a lot of friends to keep our spirits up.

Thanks, Crystal. Two young ones running around too, but too quick for my camera!
oooh, the Virginia Rail. I have not seen that one before. Great captures here.
Wow, those flickers!! What a great catch. Sing about it indeed.
I thought it was too late for them to be mating, but I’ve since learned that they can have two clutches a year. Lovely day in my local area!
They don’t just do it for fun eh?
Hahahaha .. from the look on their faces I’d say no, but I can’t be sure! 🤣
