I can’t believe the road was open! I’m totally going to head up there. And I’ve never seen a goat there. Never never. How lucky you are and I’m so glad the goat decided to appear for someone with a camera to capture the scene so beautifully. This was a trip full of gifts. What beautiful photos you took of the volcano. <3
Thanks, Crystal. Yes, I felt so lucky to see that gate open. From the platform at the visitor center as you stare at that gorgeous mountain, down to your left is where the goat has been the last couple years. It looks healthy! Last year there were babies!
Fantastic pictures all around!! the goat, the icicles, the deep snow, the birds. Wonderful, thank you. And good on ya for getting out. There’s hope!! 🙂
Thanks, Nancy. It was a really serendipitous day ! I knew the goat might be there. I saw it all year last year and it was in the same place! As for hope, yes! May it always be lurking.
Gorgeous. And chilly! I see it’s Johnston Ridge now. I thought it was on FB, but the photo was flipped and the building on the wrong side. It threw me! So excited to know the road is open early!
Oooh, my!! Exceptional! This camera – is it your old one which you got returned? – works wonders and so do you. And nature, of course. This goat looks so immensely pleased. 😀 Everything is just exceptional.
Thanks, Manja! Yes, this is my returned camera. I’ve missed it, especially when it comes to reaching these beautiful animals that are never as near as you’d like them to be!
Thanks, Bailey! I was feeling like the luckiest person in the world to find the gate open to the ridge. Had the whole place to myself .. well, except for the goat!
Awesome shot of a great animal.
Thanks Michael! To see them back at Mt St Helens is such a treat!
Most welcome. Great news.
Your photos are so wonderful! Love the goat!
Thanks so much! I love that goat too. So healthy and such a treat to find it there after all these months!

Isn’t it great? It was still cold and there is a lot of snow in places, but lots of options for mostly snow-free hikes. Next up: West Boundary!
