Just searching for the good stuff .
Wonderful day at another Blue Sky Church. Packwood Lake trail is snow-free and open for the season. Road to the trailhead is paved (albeit long) and there is a clean restroom in the parking lot. This is a gentle hike through the forest to stunning Packwood Lake. The island in the middle has several names: Agnes, Wizard and Enchanted Island. Nice spot for lunch, photos or camping. Lots of good camp spots near the lake. If you’re looking for solitude, press up and on during the summer months. Trail is in good shape, snow-free and no obvious trouble spots. There are some Trillium and a few other buds but not a wildflower hike by any means. A little muddy in places … also a few bugs, but all in all a great spring hike. I logged it at around 9.5 miles roundtrip but, with so little elevation, it is a brisk walk through the forest. Lovely morning.
